Opening Post...
Last month I bought an unbuilt Grantura Yak Kit off of Ebay. This only consisted of the chassis and the basic body tub. Of course at Just £41 it was a bargain.
The Grantura Yak was an attempt to fill the void when the Moke went out of British production. Grantura were linked to the TVR company and made the fibreglass bodyshells for TVR. Based in Blackpool.
Thats where I entered the world of Yak ownership, rocking up at the sellers house in a hired van, ready to collect the two parts and return them to my garage.
It turns out that the seller was in the motor industry and worked below the Grantura factory when they closed down. He was asked to help clear out the remains of the companies belongings. This included a complete Yak and a chassis\tub. htere was also a bodyshell mould and the chassis Jig. While he was able to salvage the car and my parts, "too good to junk" he told me. He had to bin the original moulds\jigs. I think we can be sure these will not now reappear on farm or in a shed somewhere.
The seller and his mate helped remove the chassis and shell and took them back to his 'house'. When I went to collect the parts emptied the shell of green water an loaded them into the back of the van. Later that day the two bits were reunited on top of each other on axle stands in my garage.
